Low Fat or Low Carb? Here is the Answer.
I understand. You are not interested in medication for weight loss…or it’s just to expensive. You want to go the more natural route. That’s cool. So, do you go “less calories”…”less carbs”….”less fat”.

Let’s start with the Bottom Line: The more you lower your natural insulin level, the harder it will be for your body to store fat. This is a basic fact.

So….which is better for weight loss, low-fat or low-carb? Well, if hey ar actually followed, BOTH of these approaches will reduce your insulin levels. The connecting KEY for you to understand is that eihr must be REDUCED CALORIE compared to your pre-diet lifestyle.

Although we do not have human studies on this, animal studies do give us important insight. Thank goodness for mice!!  Mice can get fat on our everyday-type of Western diet [high calorie, high fat and high carb]. Once they are fat, some of them get put on a high calorie/low carb diet, and compared to the other mice who were not switched over. So…they are getting the same amount of CALORIES, just the content of those calories are different. The mice on the high calorie/low carb diet lose weight. More importantly, they lose LIVER fat, which has been linked to numerous bad health things.
Losing weight while eating the SAME amount of calories…just less carbs, basically points to insulin as the driving cause of weight gain. You need insulin spikes to store fat.
What dos this man for you and me? It means that focusing on “dieting” and cutting calories, bu itself is not enough. You will get hungry and you will eat….that is a basic need. But, by maintaining your calorie consumption, just with less carbs present, you will lower the insulin levels and store less fat.
